At MIC Health and Fitness, we have long been champions of using Pilates to stay strong, fit and healthy. That’s why it’s no surprise to us when we hear our favourite celebrities saying the very same.
Scarlett Johansson recently sat down with “The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast” and described how her acting role in Iron Man “changed [her] whole outlook on exercise.”
Johansson claimed that at age 24, she had never stepped foot in a gym before. However, it wasn’t long before she fell in love with fitness!
Her initial favourite workout was heavy weightlifting. However, she soon realised that the high-intensity workouts might not be sustainable for too long. That’s when her head was turned by Pilates…
“You just, your body reacts in a different way than it [did before] – the recovery is tough. And so I started doing Pilates to try to give myself a break from some of the heavy weightlifting,” Johansson told the podcast. “I just fell in love with it. And now I do that mostly.”
Pilates is often a celebrity favourite, with Adele, Harry Styles, Margot Robbie and many more hailing it as their workout of choice.
Although Pilates is generally low-impact and gentle, it can be transformative for your body. It’s not just about aesthetics, there are many crucial benefits of beginning a regular Pilates practice.
Johansson continued, “I think my go-to thing is that I try to do physical exercise whenever I can in the week because it helps my whole mental well-being.”
If it’s good enough for Scarlett, it’s good enough for us!
